Kamuzu Stadium Fraud Case adjourned to April 25th

Senior Resident Magistrate, Akya Mwanyongo, has reserved bail ruling in a case where six suspects are being accused of allegedly stealing cash amounting to K437,000 belonging to the Super League of Malawi.

Two directors of Unity Gate Management System, the company hired to collect cash at the gates, were arrested later by detectives who had initially pounced on the cashiers.

State prosecutor Francis Malenga has disclosed that the State will parade five witnesses but indicated they are not ready today; hence his appeal for an adjournment, which has since been granted.

Malenga told the court that the six, Laston Theu, Wyson Chingana, Prince Ndalama, Gladys Meja, Chiyembekezo Buffalo and Tingo Fungulani committed the crime on 16 April 2022 at Kamuzu Stadium during a football match between Mighty Wanderers and Sable Farming.

Meanwhile, all the six suspects in the case have pleaded not guilty to the charge and the State is expected to parade five witnesses in the matter.

The case has been adjourned to next week Monday.
