UTM Regional Secretary, Police Officer Arrested For Aiding Illegal Immigrants And Defilement

Police in Karonga have confirmed the arrest of United Transformatiom Movement (UTM) regional secretary, Jane Mbale and a 38 year old man Patience Kondowe suspected of aiding and abetting illegal immigrants.

Northern Region Police Publicist Maurice Chapola confirmed the development but failed to give more details saying investigations are still underway.

” I can only confirm that we have arrested two people and a police officer on the matter. Investigations are underway and we are yet to inform the public,” Chapola said.

A police officer has also been arrested on suspicion of defiling a 13 year old girl after he intercepted the UTM vehicle carrying the Somali immigrants heading to Karonga Boma.

UTM publicity secretary Frank Mwenefumbo is yet to comment on the matter.
