Chaos in Rumphi as Mtima Gondwe Camp holds protest against installation of Joseph Bongololo

Information reaching this publication indicates that there are running battles at Bolero, Rumphi where the Camp for Mtima Gondwe is holding protests against the installation ceremony of Joseph Bongololo Gondwe as paramount chief Chikulamayembe of Tumbuka Tribe of Rumphi scheduled for tomorrow.

The protesters have smashed government vehicles for some top officials who are there to prepare with the royal family ahead of the big day tomorrow.

Speaking to the press pokesperson for Mtima Gondwe Group village headman Hunga said the protests is to show their anger against President Lazarus Chakwera’s decision to approve the installation ofJoseph Bongololo Gondwe as paramount chief Chikulamayembe.

Hunga revealed that as President Chakwera will be presiding over the installation ceremony of Joseph Bongololo Gondwe they will also be holding a cultural event at Mtima Gondwe’s, residents, installing him as Paramount chief Chikulamayembe as well.
