Malawi family in SOS: In Dare need of MK15 million for Catherine Kapiri Mloza diagnosed with brain tumor

The family of Catherine Kapiri Mloza in Lilongwe is in dare need of 12000.00 GBP (MWK15,000,000.00 approximately) to help Catherine travel to India for medical treatment as recommended by medical doctors.

Catherine, a teacher at Ngumbe secondary school in Blantyre was diagonised with a brain tumor and the problem has affected her eyesight.

Sister to Catherine, Rosalia Kapiri while confirming the development she said the family has managed to raise MK5 million of the said Mk15 million.

“My name is Rosalia Kapiri. I am a Malawian by birth, from Khanda Village in Lilongwe but currently staying in Area 25 C.I work as an intern at the Ministry of Health. I am humbly appealing for funds towards medical costs for my older sister, Catherine Kapiri-Mloza. She urgently needs to travel to India for brain surgery that has affected her eye sight. The medical term for her brain tumour condition that has led to her gradual loss of sight is called Pituitary adenoma.

“It has now reached a worsening stage to the point that there is fear that if she does not travel to India for immediate surgery as recommended by her medical doctor in Malawi , she may permanently lose her sight. At the moment we have been advised by the hospital in Malawi that the condition cannot be treated here but rather require surgery that can be possible in India,” said Rosalia.

She added: “However the total cost of this trip combined with medical fee is huge. It is estimated at 12000.00 GBP ( MWK15,000,000.00 approximately).As a family we are pulling our resources together and have so far raised at least 4000.00 GBP ( MWK5,000,000.00 approximately).

“It is proving tough for us to reach the required amount in time. The situation is at a critical stage. We are humbly requesting friends, well-wishers and people of good will who can help to assist us .We are facing a short fall of 8,000.00 GBP (MWK10, 000,000.00) approximately as we speak.”

Catherine is currently admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.
