Spokesperson for Southern Region Water Board (SRWB) Rita Makwangwala has said the company is losing half billion kwacha each year to legal connection of water.
She said the problem has caused them to boost attempts to check illegal water connections for the improvement of services.
“We are yet to establish the number of illegal water connections in the region because thee loss is too huge,” she said.
According to her the effort has managed to detect an illegal water connection which cease the payment in the year 2019.
However Southern Region Water Board has promised to carry on with campaign until they locate more illegal connections and put an end to the malpractices.
