Bereaved family blocked from collecting dead body at Dedza District Hospital over debts

Information reaching this publication indicates that health officials from Dedza District Hospital have blocked bereaved family from collecting remains of a relative at a mutually due to failure by police to sort out the money they owe the hospital.

According to information at hand, the man was found dead in the area this morning and was taken to hospital for postmortem before burial.

But when the bereaved family went to collect the body they were surprised that health officials refused to release the body.

The bereaved family reported the issue to police and the law enforcers came but they were denied access too.

The health officials want the law enforcers to settle the said debts before collecting the body.

Meanwhile, health officials have also refused to conduct postmortem on the dead body.
