Reports reaching this publication indicates that Fiscal Police in Lilongwe have arrested four more officials from the Accountant General’s office over alleged irregular transactions.
In an interview with Zodiak, Deputy National Police spokesperson Harry Namwaza has identified the four as Edwin Chatsalira, Enerst Mandawala, Senifa Mfune and Taonga Nkhoma.
Their arrest came after four officers from the same office were also arrested on the same matter.
They are accused of stealing money from various government Ministries, Departments and Agencies through allowances.
Initially the amount involved was K159 million and has since gone up to K283 million.
The four will appear in court soon to be formally charged.
