Police shoots suspected thief in Zomba

A 19 year old suspected criminal is receiving treatment at Zomba Central Hospital after being shot in the leg by the police.

Assistant Public Relations Officer for Eastern Region Police Tionge Kayenda has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as Frank Time.

Kayenda said during the night of August 4, 2022, police who were on patrol got a report that some criminals were stealing MTL cable wires near Zomba depot,

She said they rushed to the scene and upon seeing the officers, the suspects started running which forced the police to shoot.

The suspect will appear in court once being discharged from hospital.
