Angry villagers set ablaze Mikundi Police Unit in Mchinji

Disgruntled villagers under Traditional Authority Mduwa in Mchinji last evening set ablaze Mikundi Police Unit and damaged the Officer-In-Charge’s house following a fracas that ensued between them and police officers.

Reports said the disagreements started when police fired teargas to disperse angry community members who wanted to deal with two suspects, Innocent Luwa and Konala Mafukeni, suspected to have seriously wounded a 15 year-old boy.

Mchinji police publicist, Maxwell Jailosi, told us that on Sunday evening the boy was allegedly severely beaten by the two as he was coming from the market.

A relative to the victim, Zedekiya Mwale, told the press that among others, the boy Widwell Allan, sustained multiple cuts in his head and has since been admitted to Kumuzu Central Hospital.
