Doa Police in Mozambique rescue trafficked Malawians

Chikwawa Police Station have hailed their Mozambican counterparts from Doa Police Station for working hand in hand on cross border crimes.

The two parties during the month of August 2022 agreed the need of curbing trafficking in persons cases and providing maximum security for the betterment of the communities across the borders.

Few days ago, nine Malawians(13 to 22 years) were taken to Mozambique by a Mozambican national popularly known as Kashito and were being kept in his house for the reasons best known to himself.

It is reported that, one of the parents started following the matter after her child was missing for days and was later informed that her child was among the people who were taken to Mozambique by the suspect.

The matter was reported at Chikwawa Police Station who requested their Mozambican counterparts for intervention.

Reacting to the request, officers from Doa Police Station stormed the suspect’s house and rescued the victim however the suspect ran away.

Meanwhile police in Doa are hunting for Kashito and have also assured that he will be sent in Malawi to answer the charges of trafficking in persons once found.
