DPP Councillor Leonard Chimbanga lambasts Gospel Kazako over Chakwera UNGA trip

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga has lambasted Minister of Information and Digitalization Gospel Kazako for backing President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s trip to New York for this year’s United Nation General Assembly (UNGA).

Chakwera left the country on Monday for UNGA with about 37 delegates and his trip has attracted mixed reactions with many describing it as a waste of resources.

Earlier this week, former President Peter Mutharika held a media briefing where he called for the immediate return of Chakwera and be with Malawians.

But Kazako blasted the calls, describing Chakwera’s trip as very beneficial.

Writing on his official facebook page Chimbanga has described Kazako’s stand as wonting.

“This is a man who followed his dream and established a radio , tv stations. This is under the previous governments which he critics everyday but created the environment for his dream to come true. I used to admire him as an entrepreneur.

“Guess being a successful businessman doesn’t translate into a good politician . Bwana Gospel Kazako nobody is jealous of Chakwera going to America. But we are worried of the begging and borrowing this government is engaging into. Mind you it’s us the citizens which will repay,” wrote Chimbanga.

He added: “Your government lacks honest in addressing issues and sadly this is damaging the very Gospel brand than you ever imagined. Show me one engagement which will not accumulate into debt on this trip? Their so many who achieved alot because of the environment created by previous governments even individuals advancing their own education which is a death sentence now under your government. Sadly you chosen to be the devil’s advocate see no evil hear no evil.

“Sadly this a man I admired reduced to political propaganda day in day out. Sadly you will be the most hated man after the fall of this regime.”
