President Lazarus Chakwera begun his United States engagement at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennesee with a reception co-hosted in his honor by Chikodi Health Foundation and the Sarah Walker Foundation
Due to the successful work done by the Chikondi Health Foundation in organizing financial and technical support for the operations of Blessings Hospital in Lilongwe over the past 10 years. In the event, according to presidential press secretary Anthony Kasunda, was directed to prepare and organize resources for the health in Malawi.
Anthony Kasunda said, ”To strengthen the president’s call for proceeding partnership between his government, as Blessings Hospital is supported with staff, resources from Christian Health Association of Malawi Facilities and partners like CH Foundation, SW Foundation, and Lipscomb University. Blessings Hospital founder Napoleon Dzombe and director Harold Banda attended the event.”
Kasunda continued, “The two spoke about the effect of the alliance is having on dozens of thousands of people in rural area.”
Chakwera was being praised by the leaders of the two foundations, Wes Gunn and Chelsia Harris, as well as the president of Lipscomb University for ensuring that their partnership in service of Malawians had the required support and direction from the Malawi government.
The president also spoke about Malawi 2063, in which the country aspires to become a self-reliant nation, the country’s long term development strategy. In Malawi’s healthy sector an investment is a contribution to the human capital development of the country.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo, Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda and Malawi’s envoy to the United states Esme Chombo also attended the event.
