Joyce Banda speaks out after representing Chakwera at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

Former President Dr. Joyce Banda has saluted President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for delegating her to the funeral of Her majesty Queen Elizabeth II who died on September 8, 2022.

The burial of Queen Elizabeth II took place and WESTMINISTER yesterday and the ceremony brought together all World leaders.

Malawi was represented by Joyce Banda and Minister of Information and Digitalization Gospel Kazako.

Writing on her official facebook page after the funeral ceremony, Joyce Banda hailed Chakwera for delegating her.

“The last two days have been an amazing experience for me and the delegation assigned to me by His Excellency the State President Lazarus Chakwera who sent me to represent him and the Government of Malawi at the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“On The 18th September in the morning, accompanied by our High Commissioner to The United Kingdom and the Minister of Information & Digitalization, went to pay last respects to Her Majesty the Queen at The Westminster Abby where Her Body was lying in state,” wrote Banda

She added: In the evening of the same day, I and Hon Minister Kazako were invited to a reception by King Charles where I had discussions with The King, Princess Ann and the youngest brother Edward.

“Today, we attended the funeral ceremony at the WESTMINISTER and later attended a reception organised by His Majesty’s government through Foreign Ministry.

“I thank God for the opportunity given through his servant His Excellency our President. I don’t take it for granted. Thank you.”
Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96.
