Police officer shoots himself to death at Dzaleka

A Police officer who was working at Dzaleka Police unit with the number B6714 identified as Sgt Mkwate of F Division has died after shooting himself on the Chin with a 2kc assault rifle on the night of October 7th, 2022 at around 21:30hours.

According to a Police report, on the stated date and time, the deceased told his fellow workmates that he was on night duties and took a 2kc assault rifle as he went into a staff toilet to relieve himself and with no time a gunshot sound was heard.

Inspector F Chinyama, went out and found out that blood was coming from the staff toilet door and passed the message to his fellow workmate about the development.

“When they all went to find out, they discovered that he had shot himself on the chin and later reported the matter to the parent Station who visited the scene in company of a medical officer who confirmed that death was due to severe loss of blood,” reads the report.
