Two women have been arrested in Lilongwe for being found with dangerous drugs in Lilongwe, suspected to be ephedrine without a license.
Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigaru has identified the two suspects as Beatrice Kaunda aged 19 and Sekai Chiwala aged 46.
Chigalu said the suspects had the drugs in a carton which was filled with mesh, and the carton was bound for Philippines. They took the parcel to a courier service in town, upon interrogation the suspects claimed that they have been given the parcel by a neighbor to send it through Courier Company.
“We are tracing the owner of the parcel and the owner will be arrested as well”, said Chigalu
Police has sent the suspects to Pharmacy, medicine and regulatory authority for analysis.
The suspects are expected to appear in court to answer a case of being found with dangerous drugs.
