JB’s son Roy Kachale Banda resigns as PP Vice President

Former Minister of Industry Roy Kachale Banda who is also son of former President Dr. Joyce Banda has resigned as People’s Party (PP) Vice President for Eastern Region.

The former President Dr. Joyce Banda has confirmed of the development in a statement saying Lawrence Bisika has since been appointed as Acting Vice President for the region.

“Today, the 17th of October, we as a family received at Kunchilingano House all the District leaders of the whole eastern region. District members are those that are sometimes most ignored in political parties as we depend on regional members to do everything.

“At this meeting Hon Roy Akajuwe Kachale-Banda took leave of the party members in the region as he is going away for other duties. In the meantime, the district members asked that while waiting for convention to go and elect office bearers, Hon Lawrence Bisika should act as VP eastern region,” wrote Banda.

The former President has since hailed Basika for accepting the post.

Inside sources says Kachale is leaving the country for Qatar where he will be serving as Malawi’s Ambassador.

President Lazarus Chakwera appointed Roy Kachale on the posts two months ago.
