State wants Namiwa’s bail revoked for flouting court orders

The Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court is today, October 28,2022 to hear an application by the State to have the bail of human rights activist Sylvester Namiwa revoked.

A court document, State made the application before the Senior Resident Magistrate Wanangwa Nyirenda through Superintendent Oscar Nkhoma.

Namiwa is on court bail following his arrest last year for allegedly staging illegal demonstrations.

Among the bail conditions, Namiwa was ordered not to organise or participate in any demonstrations.

But yesterday Namiwa was among the organisers of the anti-government protests which took place in Blantyre and Zomba.

Namiwa is yet to comment on the matter.
