Bushiri denies sponsoring anti-Chakwera demonstrations

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Jesus Nation Church has denied the ongoing anti-President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera demonstrations organized some Civil Society of organizations led by Joshua Chisa Mbele.

Earlier this week, the social media was awash with reports that Bushiri is the main man behind the said demonstrations organized across the country.

But reacting to the development, Bushiri through his spokesperson Ephraim Nyondo denied being behind the said protests.

“I would like to strongly condemn, as blatantly false, some romours circulating on social media saying Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is among the people financing demonstrations organised by some sections of our society.

“They are bad romours spread by people with nothing but intentions to always put the name of the Prophet in a negative prism,” wrote Nyondo.

He added: “The Prophet earnestly believes that President Lazarus Chakwera’s government is putting on tremendous efforts to ensure that the prevailing economic challenges Malawians are facing are being addressed.

“Such efforts, the Prophet believes, needs to be supported and, as a man of God, he does that everyday through prayer and, as a businessperson, through attracting several people to invest in Malawi.”

Nyondo further expressed sadness over the tendency of some Malawians who drags the Prophet in any scandal.

“I must underline here that it is disheartening to note that it is becoming a tradition among some sectors of society that whenever there is an occurence in the country they will always drag the name of Prophet Bushiri in it.

“The fact that Prophet Bushiri doesn’t sue such people should never be an impetus for such unacceptable and illegal behavior,” added Nyondo.
