Police in Central west have identified the particulars of the man who was shot dead yesterday afternoon in Mchinji as a Zimbabwean national Chisomo Vitalisi Masukwedza, aged 31, Alfred Chimthere the police regions publicist confirmed.

According to a police report seen by this publication, the late Masukwedza was residing in Lilongwe, Biwi area was shot on the forehead by unknown person who used unknown type of pistol rifle.

UNEDITED POLICE MURDER REPORT

Detective Inspector Chewe SCIO Mchinji Police Station reports in the said case that Chisomo Vitalisi Masukwedza, aged 31 years, Zimbabwean National C/O Biwi location in Lilongwe died after he got shot on the forehead by unknown person who used unknown type of pistol rifle.

Brief facts are that on the said date and time the deceased was driving his motor vehicle Mercedes Benz reg. no: NN 856 black in colour from Lilongwe heading Mchinji direction and the deceased was in accompany of his girlfriend Mirriam Saidi, born 09/06/1993, village Msikatema, Traditional Authority Mponda, Dist Mangochi C/O Area 22, Tel. No: 0997 076 269 and two unknown Zimbabweans believed to be friends of deceased’s brother named Padon Masukwedza of same other particulars with the deceased.

Who upon reaching at Nantchola-Likasi forest, the deceased was shot on the forehead and died at the spot in his car.

Matter was immediately reported to police, whereby scene of crime was immediately visited and upon reaching at the scene, the girlfriend was found escaped to nearby railway houses where she kept hide.

The body of the deceased was found lying dead on both drivers seat and passengers seat whilst in a pool of  blood.

Upon searching at the scene, two empty cartilages plus two live ammunition of pistol rifle were found at the scene and a small black jumbo with white powder suspected to be drug.

Later after the body was taken to Mchinji District Hospital mortuary pending Postmortem.

The girlfriend is in the hands of police and upon interviewing her, she  has disclosed that the deceased in the morning of 16/11/2022 was called by his brother Padon Masukwedza that there were two Zimbabweans friends to him Padon who had a car problem along Mchinji road.

Hence, he asked his young brother now deceased to assist them since they were stranded.

The deceased in accompany with his girlfriend had to pick the two Zimbabweans. One was picked along bypass road and the other at Engene filling station at Njerwa and started their way to Mchinji to maintain the breakdown vehicle.

Upon reaching Nkwazi area, the deceased became suspicious with the distance and asked the two Zimbabweans about distance due to fuel consumption of the vehicle.

Hence, one of the two Zimbabweans dropped and hired a motorcycle to proceed with the journey up to where the purported breakdown car was, leaving behind the deceased, girlfriend and the other Zimbabwean in the car.

After few minutes the remained Zimbabwean in the car, asked to follow his colleague and upon drive up to Nantchola – Likasi forest, it is where this unknown Zimbabwean asked the deceased to stop driving the car and took his unknown pistol rifle, he shot the deceased while the girlfriend escaped.

However, the girlfriend disclosed also that the deceased had misunderstandings with his brother on business issues and issues are currently at Lilongwe Police Station where the deceased was once arrested.

So far, enquiries are underway on the matter to establish the truth of the matter.
