Malawian man takes own life due to financial strains

Police in Neno district have confirmed the death of a 47 year old man who hanged himself to a tree due to financial problems.

Neno Police publicist Sub-Inspector Austin Kamwendo identified the deceased as Lazalo Yohane.

According to Kamwendo, the deceased has a form two daughter who learns at Domwe Community Day Secondary School in the district and that he lacked money to pay school fees for his daughter.

“It is reported that the deceased told his relatives that one day he will kill himself just because his daughter is not among the beneficiaries for school fees donation from her school,” said Kamwendo.

He said on Wednesday at around 15:00 hours the Yohane was found dead after hanging himself.

“The matter was reported to Neno police station where by CID personnel and medical doctor from Neno district Hospital rushed to the scene of the crime where the doctor confirmed that the death occurred due to suffocation,” added Kamwendo.

Lazaro Yohane hailed from Kaingirila Village in the area of Senior Chief Dambe.
