The ministry of health has launched the Malaria vaccine Expansion program for children under five yesterday in Mchinji and the program is targeting over 3, 000 under-five children from eleven districts.

Secretary for Ministry Health, Dr. Charles Mwansambo, said more cases of death are being registered each day especially pregnant women and children under-five, with an estimate of 6 million cases per year.

According to Mwansambo, all parents and guardians are asked to have their children vaccinated.

Country Representative for the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Neem Kimambo, described the program as lifesaving, adding that malaria remains a public health problem in the country.
