Police in Blantyre have arrested Phillimon Taliwa, 50, Orbert Nguluwe, 37 Zimbabwean nationals and a South African Xolan Scosana, 46 allegedly breaking into motor vehicles and stealing over K9 million cash.
Blantyre Police Station spokesperson Sub Inspector Peter Mchiza said the suspects have been breaking and stealing from motor vehicles and even stealing large sums of money and various properties including laptops and cellphones.
According to Blantyre police, people claimed to have had their motor vehicles broken into by unknown criminals at Chichiri Shoprite and other areas.
Investigations by station’s detectives, shows that the suspects are not Malawians and when they commit an offence in Blantyre they hide in Lilongwe and when they steal in Lilongwe they go back in Blantyre.
The three are soon to appear before court to answer different cases before being handed over to Kanengo Police.
The thieves attacked Kanengo in Lilongwe and run away with nine million last week and they used some of the money to buy Toyota vits which they used when travelling back to Blantyre.
Police caught the suspects as they were coming from Mulanje where they went on other missions to steal.
Police in Blantyre have since thanked members of the public for reporting cases of this nature, and also to those who assisted with information which led to identification of these culprits.
