AFORD rejects Commission of Inquiry report on Chizuma’a arrest

Date:

Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) has trashed the report that the Commission of Inquiry that President Chakwera initiated two weeks ago regarding the arrest of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma.

The Commission of Inquiry released its findings yesterday following an order from President Lazarus Chakwera who has since been served with the report.

The inquiry faulted Chizuma and Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Steven Kayuni but could not indicate who ordered the arrest.

The report further failed to reveal as to wherever President Chakwera was aware of the arrest or not.

Speaking in an interview with the press AFORD Secretary General Wakuda Kamanga said the report is deceptive as it has failed to answer the basic questions like who ordered the arrest, is it true that the President was not aware before the arrest was effected?.

“As AFORD, we are very much saddened and disappointed by the substandard report that Justice of Appeal Edward Thea retired and his team has given to Malawians. This is fake report and as the party we can’t accept it. In all fairness this is too much. And we demand the full report to be released forthwith. Malawians are not fools, said the veteran political guru, Kamanga who has vast experience in administrative politics.

Kamanga added that Malawians are patient people but time comes when they say enough is enough. And this is enough to call a spade a spade.
