DoDMA urges journalists to keep reporting on natural disasters

The Department of Disaster Management Affairs in Balaka has urged journalist to continue spreading information concerning disasters.

This was said during a media workshop in Balaka.

Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Blessings Kamtema said the media has a big role to play in disseminating information on precautionary measures.

According to Kamtema, they have asked development partners assist the district with funding, so that they can respond to issues of disaster.

”Reporters have a critical role to play in desseminating information easily that’s why we involved them in this training,” he said

One of the journalist who attended the training, Ousman Kaliati from Lilanguka Radio said the training has come in time and he has learnt some techniques on how to report disaster stories.

Balaka district has registered over 400 household distractions from emanating from disaster.
