Heavy Rains and Winds Cause Damage and Displacement in Chipoka Village, Mangochi

Chipoka Village, located in Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi, has been hit hard by heavy rains and winds, leaving several residents homeless.

The Civil Protection Committee at the District Council is currently assessing the damage to determine the exact number of affected houses.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Victoria Kingstone, visited the victims and reported that many are in immediate need of food, temporary shelter, and household essentials.

The heavy rains, which began on Tuesday night, have also caused flooding in some areas and streams, making them impassable.

The community is calling on government and the aid agencies to provide assistance to the affected families.

The Civil Protection Committee is working to provide the necessary support to the victims and mitigate the impact of the floods.
