South African rapper AKA and his close friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, were killed in a fatal shooting incident that took place outside a restaurant in Durban on Friday night.
AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, was one of the country’s most successful and well-known rappers, known for his electrifying performances and socially conscious lyrics. He had just turned 33 and was in Durban to celebrate his birthday when the tragedy occurred.
According to local reports, AKA and Tibz were on their way to a nightclub for a performance when they were shot. The motive behind the killing is currently under investigation, and the police are working to gather evidence and track down the culprits.
