Social Media Influencer Pemphero Mphande Sues TNM for Negligence and Defamation

Social media influencer Pemphero Mphande has taken legal action against Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) and TNM Mpamba Limited, alleging negligence, breach of statutory duty, and defamation, among other claims.

Mphande’s lawyer, Geofrey Taumbe of Clarkes Attorneys, confirmed that they have filed a claim for damages at the Lilongwe District Registry.

According to Taumbe, the lawsuit is based on the fact that some people are able to register phone numbers on the TNM network under Mphande’s name without proper documentation, and then demand money from unsuspecting individuals.

Mphande alleges that this has caused damage to his reputation and has had financial consequences for him.

The summons served to the defendants give them 28 days to respond to the claim or contest the matter in court. It is not yet clear what TNM’s response to the lawsuit will be.

Mphande also known as Mr P/Mr Zee World, is a popular social media influencer with a large following on various platforms.
