Liwonde Police in Machinga District is hunting a woman who is suspected to have dumpe her a six-week old baby near Machinga Agriculture Development Division (ADD) lines in the district.
Liwonde Police spokesperson Ngwashape Msume has said that the baby was discovered by a woman on 22 February 2023 around 19:00 hours.
“An inhabitant of a house within the area heard crying of the baby, when she went to check out, she discovered the baby being abandoned nearby she alerted the police after failing to trace the mother”, Said Msume.
The unknown mother will answer a charge of child abandonment if caught.
