CROCODILES CONTINUES ATTACKING PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY

People in the country are continuing living in fear following the crocodile attacks which has become talk of the day.

For instance, people living near Mpiri River in Machinga have accused authorities for failing to address threats of crocodile attacks in their areas, saying it has affected their daily farming activities.

However, Senior Chief Nkoola of the area, has confirmed that close to two months now after the first attacks were reported to authorities, the animals continue to maraud around their farmlands, forcing others to abstain from visiting their farms.

Nkoola also added that a woman identified as Margret Iman from Group Village Headman Muhipera is nursing wounds after surviving an attack a week ago that happened when she was attending to her crops along the river banks.

The attack has gone rampant in the country as a 43 year-old-woman, Mika Lampi, from Lundu village under Traditional Authority Malemia in Nsanje district, is missing following a crocodile attack on Monday night.

Spokesperson for Nsanje police Sub-Inspector Agnes Zalakoma has said that the woman was crossing a stream on her way back home from a maize field in the company of her husband, Manuel Meki then the woman caught by a crocodile and disappeared.

Currently, Nsanje police is putting all the efforts to rescue the woman.

Commenting on the matter, Director of Parks and Wildlife, Brighton Kumchedwa while expressing ignorance on the latest attack, has said that his office is aware of matter and they have sent team members in different locations to address the matter which also met the chief, leaving him with contact details to report such issues.
