Man dies after being swept away floods in Balaka

A person has died after being swept by flooding water triggered by Cyclone Freddy while eleven others have been injured in Sub-Traditional Authority Chakanza, Balaka District.

Balaka District Council spokesperson, Mary Makhiringa, has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Makhiringa, a total of 1402 households and 3271 people have been affected in the district.

Available data also indicates that 2415 hectares of crop fields have been damaged.
