Woman found dead in maize field in Balaka

A 64-year-old woman has been found dead in a maize garden in Pyoli village, Traditional Authority Mbera in Balaka district.

The victim, Elida Namitowa, was discovered lifeless in the field. Balaka District Police Publicist Mphatso Munthali confirmed that the body has been taken to Balaka district hospital for a postmortem.

The cause of death is currently unknown, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Namitowa’s death.

The police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
