Four Men Arrested for Impersonating ESCOM Employees and Engaging in Theft and Illegal Connections

Date:

Four men have been taken into police custody for allegedly impersonating employees of the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM), according to a statement from the power supplier’s Public Relations Officer, Peter Kanjere.

The four suspects are said to have engaged in theft and illegal connections while pretending to be ESCOM employees.

The arrests were made following ESCOM’s recent expression of concern over the high levels of vandalism on its equipment and the cost of restoring such vandalized property.

The company had urged the public to report any suspicious activities or individuals posing as ESCOM employees.

“We have been experiencing a lot of theft and vandalism of our equipment, which is costing us a lot of money to repair and replace,” said Kanjere. “We urge members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals who may be posing as our employees.”
