Police granted warrant of arrest to anyone connected to stealing of donations for Cyclone Freddy victims

Police have obtained search warrant to deal with the stealing of donations meant for tropical cyclone Freddy survivors, following an order from the minister of Home Land Security Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma.

The warrant has been obtained following a tip from a senior government official (name withheld) regarding the malpractice that are happening in some cyclone Freddy evacuation camps.

Ng’oma said that the search warrant will help in dealing with the stealing of the donations.

Ng’oma also added that stealing of the donated items frustrate efforts by government, well-wishers and individuals to support survivors of the cyclone freddy who are in camps.

The Minister has further warned people who are doing the malpractice, saying that the law will take its course once caught.

“Am warning anybody involved in the malpractice to immediately stop or else will face the law,” Said Ng’oma.

Ng’oma has since disclosed of the intention to introduce a hot line number where people can call to notify the police of any malpractice happening in the cyclone freddy evacuation camps.

The minister has advised the citizenry to come up with genuine tips to avoid harming some innocent people.

Meanwhile, police have already started conducting searching exercise into some houses in Chilobwe Township.
