Chakwera asks Malawians to repent

President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has called for national repentance, for God to have mercy on the Malawi nation.

Speaking when he addressed members at the Eminent Person Forum organised by the Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe on Wednesday, the President said people in Malawi need to repent due to calamities that have befallen the country.

“We must repent, because we have sinned. In the context of relief and recovery right now people are continuing to sin. As a nation we need to humble ourselves because God is reaching to us for repentance. We need to refocus, because there cannot be hope if you know there is no one to call,” said Chakwera.

Archbishop Mark Kambalazaza the Chairperson for Evangelical Association of Malawi said the event was calling for eminent persons or high officials like government officials, business officials to pray and ask for Gods intervention.

Ministering at the event, Pastor Enoch Adeboye the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, said God has not forgotten Malawians, he is in charge and Malawians should stop querying God.

“Never query God again, all things work together for good to those that love the Lord. The disciples accused Jesus as to why he was sleeping when they were about to sink but Jesus calmed the storm. I assure you the one that never sleeps nor slumber is with Malawians. I have good news for you, the future of Malawi will be glorious,” said Adeboye.
