Govt gives Refugees 14 day ultimatum to relocate themselves to Dzaleka Refugee Camp

Government through ministry of Homeland Security has given a fourteen day ultimatum forcing all refugees residing in both rural and urban to relocate to Dzaleka Refugee camp in Dowa District.

A statement signed by Homeland Security  minister Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, has indicated has indicated that the notice is effective from 1st April to 15 April 2023.

This notice follows the expiry of the relocation deadlines of November 30 2022 and February 1 2023 for refugees based in the rural and urban areas, respectively

The statement adds that after the stated dates of relocation, there will be relocation process enforced by law enforcers and the department of immigration and Citizenship Services.

Meanwhile, Public Relations officer for the ministry Patrick Botha, has warned the general public by saying that any person or group meddling in the process or harassing the refugees and asylum seekers will face the law.
