Two people arrested for possessing firearms without papers

Police in Zomba are keeping in custody two people for illegal possession of firearms.

Zomba Police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano identified the suspects as Mphatso Namasi, 26 and Joseph Khumbi, 45.

“They were arrested during the wee hours of Saturday, May 6, in Chingale area following a tip-off that the two were keeping riffles which they brought from South Africa,” Sipiliano said.

She further said after a search, the two were found with a blow pistol with three live ammunition and another riffle without ammunition.
