Chitipa DC warns against politicising ADC, VDCs

District Commissioner (DC) for Chitipa, McMillan Magomero has asked community leaders in the district to desist from politicising Area Development Committee (ADC) and Village Development Committee (VDC) but rather concentrate on development.

Magomero made the call on Monday at Lifita Technical College during Bulambya-Kaseghe ADC meeting.

He said members who want to vie for political positions should excuse themselves from the committees and join political structures.

“Under Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD) 2023-2024 financial year, we plan to put street lights from Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Roadblock to Meru Filling Station in the first phase. Then from Meru filling to Lufita and Lufita to Kapoka.” he said.

Magomero further said that there were also plans to construct a big market at Lufita that will cater for people around Army Camp, Lufita and even vendors who come to buy farm produce.

Chairperson for Bulambya-Kaseghe ADC, Lourine Chilingulo hailed the DC and other officials for attending the ADC meeting, saying it had given them morale and had stirred members of the committee to work hard and start monitoring developmental projects in their area.
