LCC Summit Shifted to Wednesday

Lilongwe City Council’s (LCC) first-ever city summit will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at the BICC in Lilongwe.

The summit was initially scheduled to take place on Tuesday, but due to some technicalities, it has shifted to Wednesday, LCC spokesperson Tamara Chafunya said.

“The Council deeply regrets any inconvenience caused by this sudden change,” Chafunya said.

Minister of Local Government, Richard Chimwendo- Banda said the summit offers an opportunity to city residents to have a dialogue on how to improve the state of the city.

Among issues to be discussed are waste management, street vending, renewable energy and the need to have city police as is the case elsewhere.

“At this meeting we will set clear targets of what we want to achieve. I urge companies and indeed all willing city residents to be part of this important meeting. We can only improve our cities when everyone is involved” said Chimwendo Banda

The summit is a brain child of the Ministry of Local Government aimed at creating a platform for sharing of ideas between the city landlords and residents for improved service delivery.
