Ex-Primary Education Advisor Betino Mpapa who defiled a girl in Neno denied bail

The First Grade Magistrate’s Court in Neno has denied bail former Primary Education Advisor (PEA), Betino Mpapa, who is being accused of defiling and impregnating a 16 year old child.

First Grade Magistrate Margaret Khobiri said granting the suspect bail could lead to interference with witnesses, arguing that the nature of the case which Mpapa is answering is dangerous.

Mpapa, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, had requested bail on the basis that he want to seek for legal advice but when he appeared before court on Friday, Mpapa told the court that his lawyer did not show up as he is not feeling well.

The court has since adjourned the case to 21 June this year.
