Dog kills 10 year old girl in Lilongwe

A 10 year old girl is reported dead after being attacked by a dog at cross roads hotel near Puma filling station in the capital Lilongwe.

The girl identified as Ellen Chawanda met her fate on Tuesday evening when coming from Maula prison.

Police officials in Lilongwe have confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

“Brief facts are that at around 1700hrs hrs the reporter Nellie chaola aged 20 together with her sister (now deceased),Ellen Chawanda aged 10 were on their way from Maula prison going towards their home at Area 46.

“Upon reaching at cross roads Puma filling station she was attacked and severely beaten by Dog which escaped from hands of dog handler by the name Of Mr Mtalison Damiano, aged 29 years, Vge Makanjira, Makanjira, Dist Mangochi C/O Safe Gaurd security services,” read part of the report.

The girl was pronounced dead upon arrival at Bwaila Hospital.

The angry mob has since killed the dog.

Meanwhile, the dog handler has been arrested by police and will appear in court soon.
