Police in Nkhotakota are investigating the brutal murder of an 82-year-old farmer, Malithano Mbukwa, of Kamkuwazi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in the district.
Nkhotakota police public relations officer, Paul Malimwe, said Mbukwa had a tobacco garden along Chabwato stream where he went yesterday morning for seed transplanting but later his lifeless body was found floating on the waters of the stream.
“Police believe that Mbukwa was heavily assaulted before being dumped into the stream”, said Malimwe.
He added that police and medical officers who visited the scene, found the body with two big cuts on the head and results of a postmortem show that death was due to haemorrhage.
