Six Arrested For Being Involved In Mob Justice In Chiradzulu

Police in Chiradzulu are keeping in custody Six people for being involved in mob justice which led to the death of Edison Libukama on suspicion that he stubbed his brother in marriage Elias Bamus with a knife on the chest.
Public Relations Officer for Chiradzulu Police Station, Constable Cosmas Kagulo, has identified the suspects as Masautso Bamusi , Amosi Mulore, Simon Mtotoka, Simeon Bamusi, Paul Fisher , Henry Pensulo a, all from vge Likalawe village Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu.
According to Kagulo, investigations have revealed that on July 28, 2023, at around 0500 hours, Edison stubbed Elias Bamus who was on his way to the garden. Edson was then taken to Likalawe village head man who advised them to report the matter to Thumbwe Police, but on the way they severely beaten him to death and set him ablaze and later the body was burried by same mob without reporting the matter to the police.
However, on August 1st, 2023, rumors were all over the area and police made a follow-up on the matter.
“Upon further investigations, on August 4, 2023, the Criminal Investigation Detective officers arrested the suspects and the body was later exhumed for Postmortem”, he said.
He further said, clinical officer from Chiradzulu District Hospital conducted the postmortem and results revealed that death was due to internal bleeding due to head injuries and burning wounds he sustained after being burnt by fire.
According to Kagulo, the suspects will soon appear before court to answer charges leveled against them.
Masautso Bamusi aged 35, Amosi Mulore aged 24, Simon Mtotoka 53 aged, Simeon Bamusi aged 42, Paul Fisher aged 48 and Henry Pensulo aged 41, all from vge Likalawe village Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu.
