Bango Asks Govt To Allow Primary Pupils To Wear Trousers

Member of Parliament for Kasungu North Mike Bango has posed a query in august house to ask government to consider revisiting the school uniform policy, specifically in relation to allowing primary school students to wear trousers, in order to adapt to the evolving times.
This comes as government through the Ministry of Education is currently in the process of engaging with various stakeholders before providing a formal response to a request for a review of the government school uniform policy in the country.
Bango argued that this could help students stay warm during colder seasons and notably reduce the tendency of learners, particularly those in rural areas, to avoid attending school in such weather conditions.
In her response,Deputy Minister of Education Nancy Chaola Mdooko has responded to this query by acknowledging the complexity of the issue pointing out that cultural and religious sensitivities are factors that need careful consideration, which consequently requires additional time for a thorough evaluation.
The response has failed to meet Bango’s expectations as he expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s response.
