Bushiri’s extradition case underway in court

Date:

Hearing of an extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is currently underway at the Lilongwe Magistrate Court.

Bushiri’s lawyer has asked Senior Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza to permanently dismiss South Africa’s extradition request.

Wapona Kita argues that witness documents from South Africa are not authenticated and that Malawi’s legal procedures in filing the extradition request were flouted.

Kita has further asked the Court not to accept and use uncertified affidavits in this matter.

Meanwhile, Senior Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza has adjourned the case for 15 minutes.

The State is expected to respond to the defence’s application.
