Two Jailed For Possessing Liquid Fuel Without License

The First Grade Magistrate’s court in Mponela, Dowa, has convicted and fined two people, Bamusi Abasi, aged 37, and Esnart Wilson, 28, K300 thousand each for keeping liquid fuel without a license.
The two were arrested on the night of August 16, 2023 for being in possession of jerrycans containing 170 litres of diesel and the fuel was confiscated.
Appearing before court, the two pleaded guilty to the charge of keeping liquid fuel without a license.
First Grade Magistrate Talakwanji Mndala ordered that the two convicts pay K300 thousand each and that the 170 litres of the confiscated diesel be forfeited to the Malawi Government.
The convicts have since paid the fines.
Both Abasi and Wilson hail from Chiziko Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chakhaza in Dowa District.
