Malawians To Experience Load shedding From Saturday To Sunday – Escom

Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) has informed the general public that there will be load shedding from Saturday, 26th August to Monday, 28th August, 2023.
According to a press statement released Yesterday 23 August, the blackouts comes due to shortage of power supply caused by maintenance works which their major supplier, EGENCO, will undertake at Tedzani.
Through a statement, ESCOM says during the stated period of the Tedzani power plants outage, available capacity from major hydro power plants will drop from 371.2 megawatts to 263.2 megawatts.
However, ESCOM has confirmed to its domestic users  that they will only have 8 hours of lights  from Saturday to Sunday but on Monday they will have 6 solid hours.
Meanwhile Escom Has advised its consumers to switch off electric equipment during the period of load shedding as power supply maybe resorted earlier than anticipated.
