MEC suspends ward by-elections in Mangochi

Date:

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has suspended the Mwasa Ward by-elections in Mangochi District due to disagreements that ensued during the voter registration exercise.

MEC Chairperson Chifundo Kachale has announced this during stakeholders meeting currently underway in Mangochi.

Kachale said the electoral body arrived at the decision to make sure that all the issues which were raised by some political parties have been ironed out.

Last week Malawi Congress Party (MCP) top official was chased at one of the registration centre after being caught with National Identity Cards of over 200 youths.

According to the sources, the said youths are underage.
