Lorry loaded with fertilizer gutted down by fire in Liwonde

A lorry loaded with about 400 bags of fertilizer has been gutted down by fire at Malawi Fertilizer Company in Liwonde.

According to reports, the fire started at around 1am today, burning an empty Truck, and people who were around failed to control the burning vehicle, leading to the fire spreading to the lorry loaded with bags of fertilizer.

Liwonde police officer in charge Ulemu Kaluwa has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Kaluwa, the truck, registration number DZ11225, belongs to Nyakhaula logisticts and the lorry, registration number NS4654, belongs to Mary Mose transport.

The cause of the fire is not known at the moment.
