Chakwera speaks out on min-Cabinet reshuffle

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has come out of his cocoon to comment on his recent min Cabinet reshuffle which saw Simplex Chithyola Banda being promoted to Ministry of Finance.

Chithyola Banda replaced Sosten Gwengwe who is now Minister of Trade.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Southern Region Water Board (SRWB) Mangochi Town Water Supply Project in Nkhunzi Bay, Chakwera said he has appointed Chithyola to lead reconfiguration of public spending towards productive and most economic sector.

“I have appointed Simplex Chithyola Banda as Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs to implement the public spending reconfiguration exercise needed to maximize our limited resources,” said Chakwera while attracting ululation from the public.

The appointment of Chithyola Banda attracted mixed reactions among many Malawians with some claiming that the new Minister is a layman.
