Chilima, Muthalika to attend Chiwanja Cha Ayao

Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima, as well as former heads of state such as Bakili Muluzi, Joyce Banda and Peter Mutharika are said to have confirmed that they will attend the cultural ceremony of the Yao people ‘Chiwanja cha Ayao’.

According to spokesperson of the group in Mangochi district, Gulupu Masuku, apart from political leaders, leaders of other cultural groups will attend the ceremony which will be held tomorrow, Saturday in Mangochi.

The event brings together Yao people from several districts including people from other ethnic groups as well as politicians and government officials.

Group Village Headman Mabuku said Paramount Chief Kawinga, is expected to be the guest of honor at the event.

During the ceremony of Chiwanja Cha Ayao, the Yao’s embrace their culture through food, dances and explaining their history.
